Data were obtained from the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, YRBS, which represented the only data available on certain topics. The YRBS is conducted biennially, most recently in 2005. Data from this source are based on samples of the population. Because of the small sample sizes, no reliable estimates could be made at the county level.

Complete documentation on survey methodology, historic information, confidence intervals, etc. can be found at the websites: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dash/yrbs.
